How to Create an Energetic Self-Care Routine at Home

Self-care is more than just skincare and bubble baths, it’s about tending to your energy, your inner world, and your subtle body. When you take time to care for your energy field, you feel more grounded, clear, and aligned with your true self.

Reiki sessions are a powerful way to restore balance, but your healing doesn’t have to stop when you leave the table. With a few simple daily rituals, you can create your own energetic self-care routine at home, one that protects, nourishes, and uplifts your energy every day.

Here’s how to begin:

1. Start with Grounding

Before you reach for crystals or sage, start by anchoring yourself. Grounding helps you return to your body and the present moment.

Try this:

  • Stand or sit with bare feet on the floor. Or a pillow propped under your feet so they are resting on something.

  • Visualise roots growing from your feet deep into the Earth.

  • Breathe slowly and deeply into your belly for 2–3 minutes.

Or step outside in bare feet, you don’t have to go to far but make sure you’re safe and there are no hazards. Here in Bondi, Sydney it’s not weird to find people stroll around the shops shoeless!

This creates a calm foundation for any energy work to follow.

2. Clear Your Energy Field

We pick up energy throughout the day from people, places, and emotions. Regularly clearing your aura helps you release what isn’t yours and stay connected to your own vibration.

Tools for clearing:

  • Smoke cleansing: Use palo santo, sage, or incense (with intention).

  • Sound: Try a singing bowl, bell, or even clapping around your body.

  • Visualisation: Imagine a shower of golden light washing over you, clearing away heaviness.

3. Protect Your Energy

After clearing, it’s important to create a protective energetic boundary, especially if you're sensitive or empathic.

Daily practice:

  • Visualise a bubble of white or golden light surrounding your body.

  • Set the intention: “Only love and light may enter my space.”

  • Repeat a mantra like, “I am safe. I am protected. I am sovereign.”

4. Tune In with Reiki or Intention

If you’re attuned to Reiki, even 5–10 minutes of self-healing can shift your entire state. Place your hands on your heart, head, or abdomen and allow energy to flow.

If attuned to Reiki, use the sacred Reiki symbols on your body to protect your energy.

If you’re not trained, simply sit in stillness and place your hands on your body with loving presence. Your intention is powerful.

5. Create a Sacred Space

Designate a corner of your home for your energy rituals. Include items that lift your spirit — crystals, oracle cards, candles, feathers, or photos. Returning to this space daily strengthens your energetic hygiene.
